Helena began her sewing lessons yesterday.
First things first, she learned how to use
the pinking shears on the raw edges
of the fabric.
One of my least favorite things about homemade
clothing has always been seams that unravel.
So...you see Helena concentrating on keeping
her fabric free from those pesky long threads.
Those pinking shears are harder to use than they look.
Next came her first introduction to ironing.
After washing the fabric, she needed to make
sure it is all smooth before we start pinning on
the pattern pieces.
Success! Nice wrinkle free flannel
I was very proud of her. She didn't even come
close to burning herself :)
